Myths About Manufactured Homes Part 2

Don't believe everything you hear. There are lots of myths out there about manufactured homes. Most of them are not true. People don't know what they don't know about manufactured homes. Most people only know what they have heard about manufactured homes. Here are some more myths that have no basis in reality.

Myth #5: Financing Is Not Available For Manufactured Homes

Reality: Financing for a manufactured home is much easier today than it was several years ago. If you have good credit, a good job history and own the land that you want to place the home own, you can get a loan for a new manufactured home. In fact, many manufactured home lenders can offer similar financing for manufactured homes as stick-built homes including FHA, VA and USDA home loans.

Myth #6: Manufactured Homes Are For Poor People

Reality: This may be the most common myth about manufactured homes. It's true that manufactured homes may be more affordable than stick-built homes, but they can be as luxurious as these homes also. More and more manufactured homes are being built and shipped every year to middle- and upper-income families. Your home doesn't make you rich or poor. Truth be told, there are poor people living mansions and oceanfront condos.

Myth #7: Manufactured Homes Aren't Energy Efficient

Reality: Energy conservation standards must be met by manufactured homes, according to the region for which they are constructed. Because of these standards, energy bills are lower and ventilation is better for manufactured homes. The skirting on your manufactured home should be checked periodically to make sure it is providing the proper ventilation for your manufactured home.

Myth #8: Manufactured Homes All Look The Same

Reality: Manufactured homes are now available in a wide variety of customizations for the interior as well as the exterior. Skylights, luxury baths, walk-in closets and stone fireplaces are all available, just to name a few. You can choose whatever design, color and layout for your manufactured home, just like a stick-built home. The options and designs are truly endless. Builders use the same materials when constructing a manufactured home as they do a traditional home. Curb appeal for a manufactured home can be just as prominent.
