Spring Cleaning For Your Manufactured Home Part 1

As winter's grip loosens and the promise of warmer days beckons, it's time to bid farewell to those long, chilly nights. Spring is nearly upon us, and much like you, your manufactured home is likely eager to shed its winter coat.

While the notion of "Spring Cleaning" may not fill everyone with enthusiasm, it presents a golden opportunity to rejuvenate your living space for the year ahead. This goes doubly for your manufactured home, inside and out. Preparing your home for the approaching warmer weather is a multi-faceted endeavor, ensuring both comfort and longevity.

But there's more to consider beyond the traditional spring cleaning checklist. If you've ever contemplated the sale of your manufactured home, spring offers an excellent window of opportunity. As the real estate market often heats up with the temperature, now may be the ideal moment to explore your options and capitalize on the potential interest of prospective buyers. A fresh coat of paint, some well-placed landscaping, or those long-overdue interior upgrades could significantly boost your home's appeal and value.

So, as you gear up for your annual cleaning ritual, don't forget to contemplate the possibility of making your manufactured home shine not just for the season but for potential buyers as well.

Un-Winterize

Hopefully you took the necessary precautionary steps in order to prepare yourself and your home for the harsh winter months. But now that winter has passed, it's important get your home back to its normal state. This mean you may need to undo some of the things you did to prepare for winter. If you loosened the tie-downs to relax them for the ground's contraction during the winter, you may need to tighten them back up. If you closed off water from parts of your manufactured home, you should switch them back on now that the weather is warmer.

Your Furnace

Your furnace just spent the last few months working overtime to keep your home warm for the winter. This is a great time to make sure your furnace will continue to work when needed. Routine maintenance on your furnace keep it running and help it last longer. Keeping the air ducts clean helps the health of your furnace as well as the health of you and your family. Be sure to check the filter and change it at every six months. Check that a lot of dust and debris hasn't built up in the furnace. Make sure the belt is tight and doesn't have signs of cracking. Check the thermostat to make sure it is still getting power. By doing these things, your furnace will last many more winters.

Exterior Walls And Siding

Winter can bring rain and sometimes snow, so you need to check your exterior walls for any damage due to excess moisture. This moisture can cause mold and possibly water damage inside and outside your walls. You should clean your exterior siding with a pressure washer to get rid of any mold that may have accumulated during the winter months.

Be sure to inspect your exterior walls for any peeling paint or tiny cracks. Use caulk to patch any of these areas and sand it before repainting. Check any previously caulked areas that may have been damaged by the weather during the winter. Repair these areas with new caulk as well.
